USS Capquest - Captains Log Stardate 60584.9

We have dropped out of warp near to the source of the distress signal we have picked up. Sensors indicate that the signal is coming from the surface of a meteor. We are approaching on impulse power
---
"Take us in closer, Mr Keller. One-quarter impulse. Forward shields to maximum."

"Aye Sir."

"Sensors are detecting wreckage on the asteroid, Sir" reported the Tactical officer. "It's Federation."

"Any survivors?"

"Scanning for survivors now... Wait, yes. Sensors are detecting one life-sign. Human"

"Try to hail them. They might still have communications."

"USS Capquest to damaged vessel. Do you read? What is your status?" asked the communications officer. "No answer."

"Transporter room. Can you get a transporter lock on the life-sign?"

"Yes sir. I can lock on and beam the survivor to sick bay."

"Do it. You have the Bridge, Mr Hawkridge. I'll be in Sick-bay".

USS Capquest - Captain's Log Stardate 60583.5

Admiral Larsen had been in command of the USS Capquest since the ship left Earth's solar system en route to Starbase 152. I am now back in command as we have picked up a distress beacon's signal and we are changing course to intercept.
---
"Helm, set a course for the distress beacon. Warp 4"

The helmsman plotted the course into the navigational panel.

"Course laid in, Sir. Changing to course 318 mark 229 at Warp 4".

"Execute, Mr Keller"
---
And so, the first mission of the USS Capquest begins...

USS Capquest - Captain's Log Stardate 60580.4

Having left Earth's Solar System, we are now en route to Starbase 152. Admiral Larsen is looking forward to his new post as Administrator of the Starbase. As this will be his final voyage aboard a Starship as a serving officer, I will be handing over control of the Capquest to him for the remainder of the voyage, at the request of Starfleet Command.

Even during the short time he has been onboard, his influence upon the crew has been notable, and his experience will prove to be invaluable during the journey ahead.

USS Capquest - Captains Log Stardate 60577.5

This is the first entry in the Captain's Log as the USS Capquest leaves Earth on it's inital voyage. The ship has been detailed to patrol the Alpha Quadrant, rendering assistance where needed, but our first task is to travel to Starbase 152 and deliver Admiral Larsen to his new administrator post on the station.

The crew, numbering 700 have performed well in simulations, but many are fresh out of Starfleet Academy and time will tell if they can handle the rigours of a tour of duty. First Officer Hawkridge has high hopes for them and I trust his judgement.
